About

Hello

My name is Kendra and I am a surface pattern designer and illustrator based in Northern California.

I love creating art that is whimsical, quirky, and sometimes a bit silly.

I have always loved creating, whether it be sewing, crafting, painting, drawing - you name it! Much of my time in high school was spent altering my clothes to express myself better. So naturally, I went to college at The Fashion Institue of Design & Merchandising in San Francisco. It was there that I was first introduced to Photoshop and Illustrator.

After earning my Associate of Arts in Fashion Design, I continued to teach myself more about graphic design. I was intrigued by the programs. I spent countless hours watching tutorials and experimenting. Eventually I became skilled enough to land an entry level job at a sticker and t-shirt shop.

Thus began my career in graphic design. Over the years, I held positions which enabled me to learn on the job. I worked with silk screen, sublimation, embroidery, large-scale printing, trade show materials, vinyl wall decals, vehicle wraps, and more. With over 10 years of experience, I decided to become my own boss and open my freelance business.

Like many designers, I started out taking any and every client. While I started to see some success, I noticed that my design idols all had something in common - they did one thing and they did it well. After briefly flirting with branding, I decided to take the plunge into surface pattern design and I haven't looked back since!

That's my story in a nutshell. If you are interested in collaborating, please drop me a line. I'd love to hear from you!
